Mayor firm city not dumping at Irisan

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan Wednesday maintained that the city government has stopped using the Irisan facility as dumping ground and as transfer or sorting area for wastes in compliance with the Environmental Protection Order (TEPO) of the Supreme Court (SC).

The mayor dismissed reports of its alleged continued dumping at the site as untrue even as he invited critics to go to the site and "see for themselves."

Panagbenga opens with parade and dance showdown

BAGUIO CITY – With flowers and waving feathers, bright cloaks and shimmering veils, flags and twirling umbrellas, instruments covered with blooms and dancing musicians; pupils garbed in neon-colored costumes and accessories, from elementary schools kicked off Panagbenga 2012 with a parade from Panagbenga Park up to the Baguio Athletic Bowl, last Wednesday.

A dance showdown followed until the announcement of winners just after noon. Baguio Central Elementary School won with a Hundred and Thirty Thousand (130,000) prize, followed by Don Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School with a Hundred and Ten Thousand (P110,000) peso prize; as Special Education Center garnered third place with Ninety Thousand Pesos (P90,000) for their efforts.

Mayor: Pedestrianization feasible

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan wants to weight things first before the concept of pedestrianizing Session Road can be done but added it is feasible.

Domogan was reacting to queries from the Local media Wednesday during the weekly Ugnayan presser on the possibility of continuing with the concept of pedestrianization as what transpired during the January 27 temporary closure of a portion of Session Road to pave the way for the conduct of the project 'Recreating People Friendly Session Road' spearheaded by a Multi-sectoral group of Architect Joseph Alabanza, Dir. Purificacion Molintas, Fr. Lorenzo Abela, Jr. and other stakeholders.

Mayor orders illegal vending crackdown

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan this week warned illegal street vendors selling their wares on congested streets and pedestrian pathways to cooperate and stop illegal vending activities.

The Anti-Peddling Task Force has launched a saturation drive to rid the city from illegal vendors targeting areas with high concentration of illegal vending such as lakandula area.
